Okay, I apologize for not attending the first TA meeting of the quarter, but I have failed at SKYPE! After spending a good part of the morning trying to download it onto my computer, I realized that it was just not going to happen. Reason: my computer is just too old and too slowto cooperate. Me=FAIL! Well, I am going to have to wait until Tom comes home on Friday so that I can download it onto his computer, and hopefully I will be able to join you all for the next Tuesday TA meeting. :)
Next, how was everyone's first two days of teaching? Mine went pretty well, with only a few minor hiccups. First, my students are really struggling with the whole concept of getting into workshop groups and opening up with one another about their ideas and analysis regarding the readings, but I know that that will only take some time to work through. But on an awesome note, I read through my students' papers ("What I expect to learn in ENG 107") and they were so positive. They really are a good class and a great bunch of students. But, I am not afraid to admit that I am still completely scared as heck. When does that fear end?

First Day Outta the Way!
Hello, fellow Teaching Associates!!
I hope everyone had a great first day of class. I know I did. Although I spent most of the morning on the verge of passing out (partly due to heat, and partly due to nervousness), I fell right into the motion of teaching about ten minutes after class started. The kids are great! They are all very attentive, maybe because I kept cracking cheesy jokes (nervous!), but it really did help that they were pretty responsive to me. I feel lucky to be where I am, as I know you all do as well. We are gonna have a great year...I can feel it! Lastly, I am so glad that I get to share this experience with you all, it just makes the experience of teaching that much more positive.
